"I arrived at Cadwell Park determined to once again qualify for the feature race and have a real go in general. I really enjoy the Cadwell Park circuit, in fact it's probably my favourite. Qualifying was hard because we didnt have the front forks set up as there were different internals and I wasn't getting any feel through the front end, I was also experiencing a bit of brake fade.
However the bike was flying and I was quickest through the Sector One speed trap in both sessions and managed to qualify 20th overall and make the shoot-out race. The shoot-out race was a fairly quiet affair, the team were all working really hard for me and had made a few changes to the front end and I couldn't get used to it in the first few laps and by the time I got used to it my front brake was going again, but I just tagged on to the back of the main group and with some pretty hard passes on the people in front of me I managed to finish ninth and therefore make the main race which I was really happy about, and once again I was quickest through the first speed trap. In warm-up the next morning I once again topped the speed trap time through Sector One and was also second fastest through Sector Two on the finish line so I was confident of a decent run in the race itself.
I got a good start in the race and from 35th on the grid I had moved up to 29th on the first lap and as we passed the halfway stage of the race I was in 24th place and feeling really good. However the brake fade problem re-surfaced and this time I decided to take no chances and reluctantly retired from the race. Overall, Cadwell was a mixture of disappointment and positivity. I was really disappointed to retire from the feature race as I was riding well and making great progress. However. I was really pleased both with my own form and the speed of my bike. I was quickest through the Sector One speed trap in both qualifying sessions and the warm-up and but for being held up a bit in the race I could possibly have been top there as well as the fastest speed recorded through the sector in the race was slower than the speeds I was achieving throughout the weekend. I'm really enjoying riding for the team, the whole set-up is relaxed and it feels just nice to be able to chill out and enjoy my racing with no pressure from the team. They really know what they are doing with the bike, - they are class!
Team boss Ian Lougher commented: "David is heading in the right direction all the time. He was once again really quick through the speed traps and is acquitting himself superbly in what is a very competitive series! He's doing a fantastic job."
